Risks
Breast Reduction surgery has risks and complications that Dr. Binker will discuss with you at the time of your visit, but keep in mind that breast reduction consists of removing excess skin around the areola and the bottom of the breast and elevating the nipple and areola. Depending on the degree of the lift needed, the scar could be just around the areola or around the areola and from the areola down to the crease line under the breast. If needed the size of the areola can be reduced. Keep in mind that breast reduction will leave permanent scars. Each person scars differently; a woman with only slíghtly sagging breasts will nave smaller scars.

Recovery
Discomfort ¡s well controlled by oral medication. A support bra is recommended around the clock for the first few weeks. You shouid engage in light waiking as soon as possible to minimize the potential for blood clots and other complications. A return to light activity is possible as soon as you feel ready, usually within a few days of surgery. You may be able to return to work and more normal activity within 10 days, as long as you do not engage in any heavy lifting or vigorous exercise. Healing will continué for severa! weeks as swelling dissipates and breast shape and position settles. Keep in mind that recovery period varíes from patient to patient. For three weeks you shouid avoid raising your elbows higher than your armpit. The pink scar will remain but they will fade gradually after several months.
